Your pet is an important member of your family, so we want you to know their comfort and care is our number one priority.  We check food and water with every walk and have been known to sneak in extra cuddles and head scratches because we can’t help ourselves. 

Policies & Procedures

Dog Walking Hours

Dog walks take place between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. While we cannot guarantee your walker will arrive at a certain time every day, we can accommodate our visit within a 2 hour window. We can accommodate requests for multiple walks a day or outside of normal walking hours for an additional fee. 

Cancellations and Schedule Changes

We ask for 24 hours notice to cancel a scheduled walk or pet visit. If cancelling within 24 hours, you may be charged for that service regardless. When cancelling service, please email chipawgo@gmail.com at your earliest convenience. 

Discipline and Obiedence Training

We expect all dogs to have basic walking and leash etiquette. If you’re working with your dog or going through a particular training program, we will try to mirror your language and commands to ensure consistency for your pet. Please let us know. 

Use of Prong Collars, Choke Collars and E-Collars

chiPAWgo believes in using positive reinforcement training methods when working on basic commands and obedience training. We do not use prong collars, choke collars, or e-collars (AKA shock collars). If you need guidance on walking your dog without the use of these methods, we’ll happily work with you to remove the need for these collars. 

Overnight Stays

chiPAWgo does not have a boarding facility, so we can come to your pet or your pet can come to us. For pets that stay in their home, one of our walkers will stay with your pet and mimic your everyday schedule. So if your pet eats at 7 a.m. and goes for a walk at 8 a.m., we’ll keep that routine. Some of our walkers also will take pets into their home and are happy to have your pet join their pack while you’re away.

Holidays and Weekend Coverage

For pet care taking place during weekends, holidays and non-standard walking hours, there will be an additional charge. We observe standard holidays, so if your pet needs a walk on any of the following days, we ask you schedule in advance to ensure we have coverage:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • 4th of July
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Eve and Christmas day

FAQ's

Are you licensed, insured, and bonded?

The short answer is yes. We are licensed, bonded and insured because we take this business and the safety of our walkers and clients very seriously. In addition, all of our walkers go through background checks and additional screening to make sure they can provide the level of service chiPAWgo's clients have come to know and trust.  

Will my dog have the same dog walker every day?

We attempt to schedule the same walker every day for consistency and routines for your pet. However, schedules change so we can't guarantee the same walker every walk. But we certainly try. If a new walker is added or scheduled to greet your pet, we always try to notify owners ahead of time to give them a heads up.

How do you handle inclimate weather?

Chicago being Chicago, means inclimate weather will be an issue from time to time. On really cold, rainy or snow days, we gauge what your pet needs and their comfort level. We know a husky and a chihuahua usually have different reactions to a 2 foot pile of snow. When there is bad weather, we utilize appropriate gear when we can. We put on snow booties and raincoats if you have them and will wipe off dirty paws before entering your house. And should a walk be cut short due to weather, we accommodate with extra cuddles and indoor time.

How will I know when my pet has been visited or walked?

We utilize an online text messaging service called Doggy Logs. It provides a map of where your pet when, what your pet did, and the walkers coming and going time. You'll be notified via text message by the app once your pet's visit or walk is complete.
